Anonymous asked: Hello. I'm the anon that's asked the last few questions. I apologize if it seems like I'm "trolling." I don't mean to judge or insult you, and I am only interested in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. To me, it seems that being able to "change" your gender "identity" makes sex and gender completely meaningless. For the entirety of human existence, gender has influenced how two humans relate to one another. Why destroy its meaning with semantics?
First, please don’t assume that everyone is human. :) Very erasing of otherkin IDs.
Second, not everyone can just “change” their genders. Genderfluidity is a Thing, but not everyone is. And that fluidity is a part of people’s identities.
The semantics are important though. I’m androgyne, not genderqueer. Semantics, yes, but it’s important to me dammit. I have friends who are transmasculine, not transmen. It’s important.
And your right, it does influence how people relate to each other. But it really shouldn’t.
I’m not trying to “destroy” anything. I’m just trying to make people aware of the fact that the way society views gender—two neat little boxes labelled “man” and “woman”—is wrong.
